Miguel Cabrera sits in the stadium behind his childhood home where he grew up playing baseball in La Pedrera, as neighborhood in Maracay, Venezuela. The stadium now bears a sign proclaiming it as the cradle of the community's first big leaguer. Cabrera, who hit cleanup for the world champion Florida Marlins after being called up during the season, signed a 1.8 million dollar contract when he was 16.
