Teenage girls take a class in in putting on makeup and walking the runway as part of classes given to them in preparation for the Miss Teen Globe Distrito Capital beauty pageant. Beauty schools are common throughout Venezuela and include runway, makeup, hair, question and answer, and excercise classes. Fashion and looking good are top priorities in Venezuela, where there is a general culture of beauty. It is a culture that permeates all walks of life and covers the country like a blanket. Girls enter beauty pageants as toddlers and young women and men get plastic surgery as teens. Venezuela is a country where thongs and short skirts are the norm, cleavage awaits around every corner and metrosexual men abound.
